You know, I used to be so against auto-tune due to the fact that mainstream American music industry was heading downhill fast with non-talents being able to sing suddenly. So many people, ranging from pop's Britney Spears to country music's Faith Hill have used this program to have perfect pitch. When this was unveiled, I yearned for the good old days when auto-tune didn't exist. Well, that is, until I stumbled upon these videos...
Well, that's according to a friend of mine who claims to be able to see ghosts. According to her, sleep paralysis is caused by a ghost holding you down for... well... you know. How does she know this? Because she's seen it being done to her.
In my experience with sleep paralysis, I actually couldn't see anything because my eyes wouldn't open either but I did hear voices. It started out as one voice and more joined, first quietly, then progressively getting louder and louder and louder and louder until I couldn't stand it anymore. And then I woke up.
According to my friend, due to the fact that there was no weight bearing down on me, I probably wasn't butt-raped but maybe I was close.
Do I believe in this stuff? I've always been torn by science and the superstitious Asian culture with science being the rational explainable side and the Asian culture trying to explain the unexplainable. Maybe my friend and I are actually delirious or have slow dementia. Or maybe ghosts do exist and some are more susceptible to seeing them than others.
Well, that was quite the fun summer. I loved living by myself but due to financial reasons and a jobless recession, I am back at home home...
B O R E D.
Along the endless wasted days, I finally realized that I should spend my time doing something else than mastering BallRacer on omgpop.com. "Maybe I'll master Dinglepop instead", I thought. But after explaining my dilemma to a friend, she reminded me that I could start blogging again so here I am.
I lost my muse to blog at the beginning of the summer and hoped that it would come back sometime soon, but every time that I opened up Xanga to the Weblog Entry page, my fingers wouldn't move. Sometimes I wrote a bit out but I would get interrupted and I'd look back and not like what I wrote. I'm going to stick it out this time though!
Xanga, I'm back. I look forward to seeing how things have changed during my absence.
Xanga. We need to talk. Let me start out by saying that you're still my favorite blogging community and that I still care about you. We've been through the thick and thin of it all, watched many friends pass in and out of each other's lives together, and had rather long conversations (but usually with only me talking).
But Xanga, as well as we fit together, I'm starting to feel some distance between us. Things just aren't the same. I know that communication is the key, but I'm the only one talking here! Maybe it's just me and not you.
I suppose that I will just get to my point.
Xanga. Let's take a break. I need to sort out my feelings, get away for a while, do my own things. No, I'm not breaking up with you, I just need some time for myself. I hope you understand.
I wanted controversy. I didn't want a loss. Michael Jackson has always been my benchmark for dancing. Not only dancing though, I looked up to the man for his music which had the ability to move a nation. He was the creator of so much that influenced modern pop music today.
As I sit here, listening to his music, I reminisce about his stardom. I wasn't one to grow up in the MJ era as I was born in '87, but I was a fan of his music ever since I first heard it. If I did grow up in his era, there is no doubt that I would have been one of the first in line to buy a red Thriller jacket.
Michael, despite all of the controversies in your life and the questionable actions, I have always been and will be your fan.
You will forever be The King of Pop.
Bored? Me too. Yes, there have been many posts on how to fix xanga. I've thought about quitting xanga for a while but I'm still here with the small sense of hope that things will change and get better. Some people think that sex is the key. And while sex is definitely interesting, I doubt that sex alone can save xanga.
What we need is a good old fashioned controversy.
Remember the good old days where people debated on fat rights, the US presidential election, or other random topics? I don't see that anymore. When I look at the front page, I see random bits about celebrity gossip, church, boys girls and relationships. They're all overused topics. Been there, done that.
We need something NEW to debate about. Something that hasn't been talked about on xanga before. Something like [fill in the blank].
Or better yet, on top of filling in that blank, go write about it. I will be sure to rec it.
I'm in the middle of a ECG (electrocardiography) class right now which deals a lot with the heart and how to read the ECG's of patients. My instructor keeps pounding one thing into our heads that is slightly related to ECG's but more of a life lesson instead.
That lesson is to never smoke.
Smoking is the only cause of death in the top 10 causes of death that is still going up at a rising rate. All other cuases of death are still rising, but at a declining rate. That includes COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease) which makes it very hard for you to breath. I'm not just talking about cigarettes though... smoking marijuana makes it 100x more likely to get COPD than cigarettes, not that cigarettes are safe or anything.
So there you have it. Something you probably didn't know about smoking. I'm not going to rehash what you probably have already heard like it makes you age faster or all the other talk about cancer and whatnot.
The first day day of my 5 day 6 hour long zero week class is over! And guess what. I actually like the class. I can't rest yet though, I need to move out of my place! Rawr.
These last few days without school have been pretty fun, actually. Even with everyone leaving, there have been some friends who are sticking around with me so we've been hanging out and watching movies. I've confirmed the fact that I cannot bake... we tried making cookies are almost burnt my new apartment down. Okay, exaggeration, but still, the cookies turned out pretty black. We also started wasting time with this website www.weffriddles.com. Basically you try to find out how far you can progress through the website before getting stuck. I'm on level 28 right now... dunno what to do. I am brain fried after 6 hours of class so I shall nap and see if I can figure it out.
Phew! It's been a while since I've blogged, sorry. Just finished the term and after this summer, I will be ending my undergraduate career to step into what will hopefully be a recovering economy.
Part of the reason why I haven't written in a while is due to writer's block. Another part is because I've been busy. But from now on, I'll dedicate one day a week to blog about healthy lifestyles which will include a lot about nutrition and exercise and random facts about the body. I am a human phys major, afterall haha. This will let me share what I learn with everyone else.
The first short tidbit I'll share tonight is that I will be celebrating the end of the term and end of finals tomorrow night with some alchie. I will also say that one reason binge drinking is bad for you is that it blocks calcium intake which would be bad for your bones. A healthy dose of Vitamin D before drinking would counteract that though so enjoy the sun so you can start out the night right!
In my earlier post on the Unwritten History of Vietnam, I spoke about the wrongs that the communist government of Vietnam committed. That piece was spurred by a comment that Haunani Kay Trask, a Hawaii Successionist made to me when she came to my campus to speak. That comment was along the lines of "I look up to Ho Chi Minh" (who was the leader of the Vietnamese communist movement at the time). I was shocked and could not understand how anyone could support him and his regime. That is, until a new friend of mine reminded me of why they fought. Like Haunani, the Viet Cong fought to rid themselves of Western influence. So I must apologize to Haunani for thinking that she was just an ignorant woman. I still think that she's ignorant for supporting them despite their attrocities but I now understand that her view and their view on the western world are similar.
I still agree with everything I said in the earlier post and I still seek to educate those who do not know why I and thousands (maybe millions) of others are grateful for the American intervention but I now know why some people have those views. And while I might agree that a lack of Western influence would be beneficial for the culture and people of Vietnam, the Viet Cong way was not the right way. There are better ways to fight against larger powers than to massacre your own people.
